Get a head start in the healthcare field as a phlebotomist.

Hands-on training includes blood-drawing procedures such as basic venipuncture techniques, butterfly techniques, heel puncture, and capillary puncture.

What to expect after graduation:

After course completion, graduates are prepared to take the state test to become a certified phlebotomist. They can expect to find employment in a clinical lab, hospital, doctor’s office, or any facility where blood samples are taken and analyzed.

Eligibility Requirements

  • Photo ID
  • Authorization to work in the U.S.
    (Social Security, Birth Certificate, Work Visa, or Green Card)
  • High School Diploma or GED required
  • Must pass a background check
  • Passing scores on entrance assessments

Note: All students must attend a mandatory orientation before the first day of class.

Students enrolling in health-related training programs with direct patient contact must meet Texas Administrative Code immunization requirements. Required documentation includes Tdap (within 10 years), MMR, Hepatitis B (complete series), Varicella (two doses or proof of immunity), and a negative TB screening within the past 12 months.

Students may enroll provisionally after receiving at least one dose of each vaccine but may not participate in patient-contact activities until all series are complete. Medical, conscience (including religious belief), and active-duty military exemptions may be considered with proper documentation.
