Our six-week program includes a combination of in-classroom and behind-the-wheel training, as well as extensive pre- and post-trip inspection. This training program offers students the opportunity to become certified as a Commercial Truck Driver (CDL-A).
What you’ll learn:
- How to prepare for the written portion of the CDL test
- Behind-the-wheel driving experience
- Road safety, road signs, and rules and regulations
- Pre- and post-trip inspections
- How to maneuver large-capacity and heavy-weight loads (including turning and backing up)
What to expect after graduation:
Your journey does not end after completing training. Once your classroom and hands-on training are complete and you’ve secured your CDL-A license, the Goodwill support team will continue to assist with resume updates, interview preparation, and connections to job opportunities.

In Texas, average annual pay is around $70,000–$75,000, with experienced drivers
earning up to $90,000–$100,000+, especially in specialized or long-haul roles.
Eligibility Requirements
- Authorization to work in the U.S.
(Social Security, Birth Certificate, Work Visa, or Green Card) - High School Diploma or GED preferred, but not required
- Must pass a background check
- Passing scores on entrance assessments
Note: All students must attend a mandatory orientation before the first day of class.
All clients seeking entry into the truck driving program must complete a Motor Vehicle Record (MVR) check prior to enrollment. MVRs are reviewed to assess eligibility and reduce the risk of disqualification during employment placement. MVRs will only be requested with written client authorization.
